Aims
The Disarm Education Campaign (hereinafter called the “Campaign”) aims to build a mass campaign to resist the partnerships of arms companies with places of education (schools and post-16 provisions). We aim to specifically:
Uncover ties between places of education and arms companies.
Establish agreements in places of education to prohibit or end any partnerships with companies producing arms.
Membership Structures
Membership of the Campaign is open to any person employed/self-employed in the education sector, registered as a student in the education sector, or in the position of parent/guardian of a student in the education sector.
Members shall be allocated on joining the Campaign to one of the following categories: Educator, Student and Parent.
Members will pay £1 annually to be a member of the Campaign.
Members will agree to follow the rules and code of conduct.
National Steering Committee
The affairs of the campaign shall be managed by a National Steering Committee, elected by the membership of Disarm Education. The National Steering Committee will meet fortnightly to advance the campaign. The functions of governance undertaken by the National Steering Committee should be:
Agreeing the mission and values
Implementing the strategic vision, tactics and policies determined by the Campaign General Meetings
Establishing and maintaining local structures of member organisation necessary to further the objectives of the Campaign.
The National Steering Committee will consist of at least 10 people, elected by the membership. The elected roles will include:
Chair
Treasurer
Communication Officer
The Campaign General Meetings
The strategic vision, tactics, and policies will be determined by motions submitted at least 7 days prior to the Campaign General Meetings and passed by motions passed by simple majority vote of the members present and voting at the Campaign General Meetings.
The aims, procedures, membership structures, constitution, and policies of Disarm Education can only be amended by motions passed by simple majority vote of the members present and voting at the Campaign General Meetings
The Campaign General Meetings will take place at least every three months and will include a report from the Chair of the National Steering Committee.
